Meet Author and Safety Practioner Scott Gaddis

Welcome to "My Safety Partner."  I've never thought of myself as a writer, just someone who has had something to say about leading safety and health programs and is willing to put pen to paper. To tell a bit about myself, I am approaching 35 years of leading safety, health, and environmental programs. However, my passion aligns more with leading safety and health simply because much of the work is people-driven. 

My current assignment is Vice President of Safety and Health at Intelex, a global EHSQ software company based in Toronto, Canada. Former roles have been diverse and include roles as Vice President of Global Environment, Health, Safety, and Sustainability at Coveris High-Performance Packaging in Chicago, Illinois; Executive Director of Global EHS at Bristol-Myers Squibb in New Brunswick, New Jersey; and various senior safety and health leadership positions at Kimberly-Clark Corporation, culminating as Global Director of Occupational Safety and Health in Roswell, Georgia. To give you an idea of how old I am, I began my career in 1989, just a few days after graduation, starting as a specialist and then director of EHS in the General Electric (GE) Motors Division.

Beyond my professional career, I serve as a member of the Board of Visitors for the College of Business at Athens State University, Alabama. In this capacity, I support the university's mission by promoting education and advising on the institution's advancement. In addition, I have been serving as a bi-vocational minister for almost forty years. My profession and faith have always been intertwined and have aided each other's success.

By creating this forum, I hope to encourage discussion on integrating EHS management more thoroughly into organizational structures to improve the environment, safety, and health outcomes and the most effective way to foster collaboration between frontline workers and management teams.
